A quick Get Well card for the MFT Color Challenge 99

Hi guys!

I have made a card for the MFT Color Challenge 99, my possibly first ever colour challenge card.. Unless my memory is shot to pieces. Which, in fairness, is quite possible.

So the colours for this challenge stumped me a little bit at first. I don’t have all of these colours in neither card stock nor ink but well, I’m up for a challenge. No pun intended!

To start with I tried finding card stock close enough in colours and I did some die cutting and puzzling with various dienamics from MFT Stamps but something just wasn’t right. (I’m not going to lie though, I want all the MFT Stamps Card stock. So many beautiful colours!) It just wasn’t coming together and it was time for a change of direction. I looked through my Distress Oxide inks to see if they would inspire me instead and thought I’d give Antique Linen, Ripe Persimmon, Hickory Smoke and Black Soot a try.

After some ink blending of each colour, using some Mini Ink Blending tools, I got a heart dienamic called Stitched Heart Grid out and cut out hearts in each one.

Then I used the grid to emboss some lines in the upper right corner of a white card base. Matching up the hearts along the grid lines so they alternate but create strips of colour, I glued them down using a Nuvo glue pen with a fine tip.

I stamped up a sentiment that says ‘I wish I was there to take care of you’ from the Feel Better set, it’s also from MFT Stamps. To match the colour scheme I stamped it in Ripe Persimmon Distress Oxide ink.

Naturally, I managed to smudge the white card base a little so I had to add a few more hearts to the card… Eh, what can you do? Just for the record, there are not smudged under every single heart, I merely added a few more to embellish the card.

I have used compensated affiliate link, at no extra cost to you, to MFT Stamps in this post, anything else is just for your convenience in case you want to get your hands on something I have used for this card.

  1. It turned out really nicely. I know what you mean about wanting all the cardstock, but you nailed the colours and the design is fabulous. xx

    1. Thank you so much, Ruth! I’m pretty impressed with myself for NOT buying the card stock and whilst it’s not my colour scheme at all, I, too, like how it came out.
