Exciting news and a bold floral card

Hi everyone!

I’m very excited to announce that I am joining the Crafty Meraki design team! The lovely Bindu asked me to join their 1st Merakiversary in May, and I loved it so I was thrilled when she asked for more videos. It’s always thrilling to be asked for more work, it’s such a confirmation that what I do is well-received. (picture me doing a crazy dizzy emu dance here)

I have used the exclusive Crafty Meraki stamp set called Elegance, and I’ve water coloured it with Inkon3 Atelier ink re-inkers mixed with Liquid Pixie Dust. I used my MISTI to stamp it with Fadeout Ink. The Atelier inks are available from the Crafty Meraki shop, but the re-inkers are not, at this time.

After colouring the image in, I have used the coordinating Para-dies to cut it out. I have also used the dies to cut out one of the sentiments that I had heat embossed in Rich Gold embossing powder from WOW! Embossing. The embossing ink I use is also the one from WOW!

The card base is cut out of Storm Cloud coloured card stock from Lawn Fawn, and I have also splattered this with white gold water colour. This is from the Kuretake Starry Night palette, and is one of my absolute go-to for gold and metallics.

The floral image and the sentiment have been propped up with foam tape, and I didn’t trim off the bits sticking out because I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I like the wild look of it.

There is a YouTube video on the Crafty Meraki YouTube channel for this card, and I’m mainly going to be doing videos for Crafty Meraki so make sure you subscribe to their channel if you want to see what I will be getting up to!

That’s it from me for today, but before I go I’ll just mention that I have used some compensated affiliate links in this post for your convenience. Shopping with affiliate links does not cost you anything extra ever, the company it’s affiliated to pays me a small commission directly, thank you so much if you chose to support me by shopping with these links! Results of a craftermath: Pinkfresh Butterflies Card!

Hi everyone and happy Monday!

Today is no ordinary day, it’s my first official blog post for Pinkfresh Studio and I’m popping in here too, because why not?

In case you haven’t seen it yet, the challenge graphic for the month of July is lovely and the theme is Butterflies. If you make a card for this challenge, make sure to link it up on the Pinkfresh monthly challenge blog post as you can win a $50 gift card!

I grabbed the Butterflies stamp set, layering stencils, coordinating dies and a few *cough, cough* other little bits and bobs. Ok, quite a few other little bits and bobs, but I was excited. Can you blame me?? No, I didn’t think so, lol.

With the ink colours from the graphic, Ocean Breeze, Passion Fruit, Coral Reef, Sweet Mustard and Tidal Pond, I got to ink blending with the slim line stencils I had grabbed: Leafy Squares and Inverted Diamonds. Over the Leafy Squares one I used all the colours, blending them with my Life Changing Blender Brushes.

On the Inverted Diamond stencil, I used only Sweet Mustard, Ocean Breeze and Tidal Pond. Before I blended anything though, I taped down the pattern with some skinny PostIt tape as I’m all out of Pixie Spray...!! *Gasps of shock inserted here* Yes, it’s true. I’m all out and it’s really hard to get ahold of here! Waaaahh!!

The PostIt tape actually added to the pattern on this stencil though, so it worked but I’m still scouring the web for more of that stuff. It’s a total must have.

When it came to the butterflies, I couldn’t stop at just one or two. It seemed kinda crazy to not play while I had all my stuff out.

And did I play or what? I seem totally incapable of making just ONE card or ONE thing when I’m crafting. Things have a tendency of spiralling out of control more often than not. The result is always a total and utter craftermath… and sometimes a couple of cards and LOTS of spare bits and bobs.

In this case, a small army of butterflies!

All are inkblended with the help of the layering stencils, using various of the colours from the challenge graphic, and all are cut out using the coordinating diecut. Some are heat embossed with Gold Rich from WOW! Embossing, and my two favourites were the big Butterflies with the gold and the single colour, the yellow one is obviously Sweet Mustard and the other one is Coral Reef. That was a bit surprising to me, but that’s what one of the fun things with playtime and trying things out. You never know what you are going to end up with!

Putting the card together didn’t take long once I decided on the two big Butterflies and the Inverted Diamond background. A quick sentiment from the Butterflies stamp set was stamped right in the middle with black ink and then it was quick work of glueing down the butterflies with Deluxe Adhesive from Tonic Studios.

That’s the card done, and now it’s your turn! Make a card with the challenge graphic as inspiration and link up your project on the Pinkfresh Studio blog for your chance to win a $50 gift card!

As always, I have used some compensated affiliate link in this post, at no extra cost to you whatsoever! If you shop using these links I get a small commission from the company directly, and bonus, it doesn’t cost you anything extra at all. Any earnings I get from these links go directly back into the crafting shenanigans over here at CaCaCraft by Erica. Including the boring stuff like paying for blog hosting, upgrades, themes and all that stuff that unfortunately cost a lot of money. I couldn’t do it without your help so thank you so much for the support, I really appreciate it a lot more than I could ever express with words.

PinkFresh Studios Inks in The House!

Hello, hello!

The ink-oholic Erica here with a very colourful post! I have had the total delight of being sent the entire range of luscious big ink pads from PinkFresh Studios and I HAD to swatch them before doing anything else! Ok, so in all honesty, the first thing I did was dance around like a dizzy emu, whilst clapping like a demented seal and squealing like a happy pig rolling round in mud! Now, that’s a mental image for you, isn’t it?? LOL! Sufficient to say, I was A TAD excited.

Ok, so the swatches are not perfect but, as mentioned, I was a bit excited. And I was still excited while I was stamping them up. I mean, the idea is to see the colours, these are staying in my craft room so I’m not sending these to anyone.

The clever swatching die and stamps are from Waffle Flower. You can find the Swatch Tag Die, Color For Ink Pads and Combo Swatch stamps separate too. These were just perfect for these inks as they come in families of four shades of each colour. You can get the Big Ink Pad Bundle or if you don’t have a huge amount of space in your craft room, they also come in a handy little Mini Cubes Bundle.

For my swatches, I’ve used I cut out loads of tags out of Neenah Solar White #110 card stock, as I wanted the swatches to be sturdy. Using the Mini MISTI, I then stamped up the swatching bit with Detail Black ink from PinkFresh Studio.

The first colour family I did was the yellows: Lemon Whip, Sunshine, Sweet Mustard and Marigold. These also come in handy Mini Cubes, called Rise And Shine.

Next up we have the peachy family: Peach Fuzz, Apricot, Clementine and Persimmon. These also come in handy Mini Cubes, aptly named Indian Summer.

Oooh, these pinks and reds have me all gooey: Coral Reef, Passion Fruit, Berrylicious and Candy Apple. They also come in Mini Cubes, with the perfect name Heartbeat.

Pretty in all the shades of pink: Ballet Slipper, Sparkling Rose, Bubble Gum and Raspberry Bliss. These also come in Mini Cubes, with the magic name Fairy Dust!

The purples are stunning: Soft Lilac, Candy Violet, Lavender and Royal Kiss. Of course, these also come in Mini Cubes and I want you to read this with your very best French accent: Soul Of Provence.

As a blue kind of gal, I’m loving these: Slumber, Blue Jay, Sapphire and Stargazer. Mini Cubes are available as well, with the dreamy name Starry Nights.

I do love all shades of blue but these have me swooning: Sky Blue, Summer Shower, Seaside and Storm. These I could easily have in both big pads and Mini Cubes, Morning Sky, just because I love them.

These dreamy teals are to die for: Ocean Breeze, Aquamarine, Mermaid Cove and Tidal Pond. Of course these gems, called Island Oasis, come in Mini Cubes as well.

Ga-ga for green? No worries, these beauties have you covered: Mint, Meadow, Emerald City and Evergreen. Mini Cubes, too, of course, called Garden Stroll.

More of a spring green kind of person? Don’t feel left out, as these will surely give you your green fix: Fresh Pear, Grassy Knoll, Key Lime and Olive. Do KNOLL worry, these come in Mini Cubes too, Over The Hill.

Looking for natural neutrals? Warm Buff, Doe, Gathered Twigs and Espresso takes card of that. In Mini Cubes too, with the delicious name Wild Truffles.

No collection is complete without some steely greys, right? Misty Coast, Rocky Slope, Metropolis and Licorice cover all your bases. In big pads and Mini Cubes, naturally, with the funky name Urban Raincoat.

With all the swatches done, I added them to a ring binder to keep them all in one place. I have already consulted them to make a card, actually. Thanks to the swatches it was super easy to pick out some bright and happy colours for the Pop-Out Rainbow stamp.

With the help of the Mini MISTI, this card took less than 10 minutes to make. SO easy, and cheerful!

I finished it off with a sentiment from the Floral Notes stamp set, stamped up with Black Detail ink. That sentiment was just perfect for a rainbow card! And perhaps a sequin… or ten. Eh, I might have gone a little bit overboard but hey, it works.

Well, with that, I’m all done for today but I do have an unboxing (I bought a LOT of stuff) and ink swatching video over on my YouTube channel as well, if you want to see the swatching in action.

As I mentioned in the beginning of this post, PinkFresh very generously sent me the entire range of inks to play with but I purchased a huge amount of stuff from them as well. Including that adorable Pop-Out Rainbow stamp, which I have had my eye on for so long! I want to reassure you that I will only ever create with stuff I love and that inspires me. I don’t know about you, but I can’t work with stuff that I don’t like, it just dries up my mojo.

I have used some compensated affiliate links to (mostly) PinkFresh Studios in this post, for your convenience, at no extra cost to you whatsoever. Any earnings I get from these affiliate links go straight back into stamps… erm… (if The Man reads this, that was an auto-correct! I swear, baby!!) the running of my blog, YouTube channel and Instagram. Thank you so much if you choose to support me by using these links, I really appreciate the support and encouragement!

Almost At 10K on Instagram!

Hi guys and WOW! I can hardly believe it but I am getting so close to a MAJOR milestone on Instagram: 10 000 followers and that fabulous swipe up feature!

Another crafty friend, Norine, is also almost there and we have some lovely friends who wanted to celebrate/help us get there, so over on Instagram there is an Insta hop happening. With a giveaway too!

I started by making a green and also a rainbow background panel with the Artist Markers, by swiping the markers back and forth to blend them together. On top of the green one I adhered a panel cut out of white card stock with the Striped Leaf cover die.

This is one of the few progress photos I managed to remember to take. I just got on a roll after this and couldn’t stop it, but I did film it so there is a YouTube video up too.

Grabbing a whole stack of inks, including the Pocketful Of Sunshine, Cherry Blossom, Red Cosmos, Warm & Cozy, Summer Afternoons, and Rose Petal Ovals I got stamping! For the leaves I mixed Tropical Forest and Green Fields.

I have used three different stamp sets: Build-A-Flower Chrystantemum, Beautiful Day stamp set, which also comes in a bundle, and Hope stamp set. This also comes in a bundle.

The second background was done with the Layering Plaid B Cover Die on white card stock, and I kept all the bits in their places so the whole background is white, but textured.

Initially I had planned on mixing and matching the flowers and leaves, but I did actually end up keeping the cards mostly in the stamp family they came from. Which was a bit of a surprise, to be honest.

On the card with the BAF Chrysantemum flowers, I used leaves from the Hope stamp set. To get more depth, I did mix and match inks from the Tropical Forest and Green Fields ink bundles.

I finished this card off with Fairy Rocks Embellishments from Trinity Stamps, for some fun bling! The sentiment is from the Build-A-Flower Chrystantemum set.

The second card was done with the Beautiful Day flowers and leaves, and the sentiment was created with Thick and Thin Alpha. It’s been heat embossed with Rose Gold embossing powder. The sequins are from Studio Katia and are called Crystal Clear Fusion.

My third card was quite quick but it’s still very colourful and fun! I created a slimline rainbow background using the Artist Markers and then heat embossed lots of sentiments from Crafty Friends in white on it.

As this one was quite flat/one layered I felt it needed some texture with Black Eyed Baubles from Trinity Stamps. And again.. I did not hold back at all, lol!

Well, that’s it from me for today, but I hope you enjoyed this post and if you are not following me on Instagram, what are you even doing?? Just kidding, but seriously, that’s where most of my crafty action is happening.

There are compensated affiliate links in this post, as well as a few non-affiliated ones, for your convenience. If you shop using the affiliate links, I get a small commission from the company directly, at no extra cost to you. Anything I make from these go back into running my blog, YouTube and Instagram fresh and fun for you guys.

Concord & 9th Feature Friday Favourite Colour Combos

Hi guys!

Welcome back to more Concord & 9th fun-ness! Today it’s a Feature Friday and we are featuring our favourite colour combos. I have a blog post HERE showing swatches of the inks and card stock, as well as a YouTube video HERE.

First I have a card, with a bold combination of Buttercup, Peacock and Mushroom. I’ve used both inks and the coloured cardstock for this card, and the Rainbow Wishes Bundle. You can get the Rainbow Wishes stamp set and Rainbow Wishes dies separate, if you don’t want the bundle.

I started out by cutting the rainbow bits out of the Buttercup, Peacock and Mushroom card stock, and puzzled these around a little.

On a card base, I stamped the cloud image in the coordinating ink colours Buttercup, Peacock and Mushroom on an angle.

In the gaps between these I also stamped up some hearts from the Rainbow Wishes set. I used the third ink colour in between the gaps, to create more contrast.

On the clouds, which come with the dies, I heat embossed the same cloud stamp in white to add more interest. With all these bits and bobs done, I puzzled the rainbows and clouds onto the background until I was happy. Then with the help of Press’n’Seal I picked up all the pieces, added liquid glue to them and simply adhered them to the background.

I nearly left it like this, but then I thought it needed a little something else. To fix it, I stamped up ‘You’re one of my favourites’ in Buttercup ink on white card stock. This sentiment is from Hey Bestie.

This I then trimmed down and adhered to the card. Then I decided to stop there. Although, I itched to add some sequins, I managed to step away and leave it without bling! *Insert gasps of shock here*

For my next project I used the new flower dies, Fresh Cut Flowers Edition 1 and Fresh Cut Flowers Edition 3. Again, I used Buttercup card stock, and also Grapefruit and Sorbet cardstock. For the leaves I used Sprout and Parsley.

All these bits and pieces I have puzzled together with liquid glue. Some are the same colour, some are mixed. I had so many pieces because I really wanted to play around and see what it would look like with some combos.

I ended up with two flowers, one has all the same colour on each level and the other ones has both same colour pieces and mixed bits. I used foam tape in between some of the layers to create height, like a natural dahlia has. The top one has three, or maybe even four layers of foam tape!

In this photo you can really see how high and dimensional it really is. The bottom flower is still lovely and dimensional, but holy cannoli, the top one really is lovely! If I may say so myself.

Well, that’s it from me for today but I will be back with annoying frequency this month, harping on and on and on about these luscious colours. I’m not even sorry, lol!

I have used some compensated affiliate links in this post, so if you click on any of these and end up buying something, I will get a small commission directly from Concord & 9th. Any earnings I get from affiliate links to directly back into running this blog and my YouTube channel. Thank you so much if you chose to support me by shopping these links.

Concord & 9th February Feature Friday! Part 1

Hi guys!

Today I am super excited to be sharing a card as one of the guest designers for Concord & 9th’s Feature Friday post. You can check out the other designers and their work on the C&9th Blog.

This Friday we are focusing on Meadow Blossom stamp and coordinating die as well as the Brushed Stripes Background stamp. You can also pick up the Meadow Blossom Combo at a discount, if like me you are not a fan of fussy cutting,

I stamped the Meadow Blossom up with Ink On 3 Blackout Ink, which is Copic friendly, directly on a card base. The base is made with Neenah #110 card stock to make sure it is sturdy. After picking out the Copics I wanted to use, I proceeded to colour it in.

With the image coloured in, it was time to use the Brushed Stripes background stamp but first I had to cover up the Meadow Blossom part. With the help of the coordinating diecut, I cut out a mask and placed over the image.

Armed with my MISTI, I stamped up the Brushed Stripes Background over the image using Bamboo ink from Altenew. It’s a fresh spring green colour and matched the colour of the leaves pretty well. Thanks to the mask being bigger than the image, it left a nice clean ‘aura’ around the flower cluster.

Instead of using the original MISTI, which still had the background stamp in it, to stamp up the sentiment, ‘Missing you, Friend‘, I grabbed my Mini MISTI and stamped it with Blackout Ink until the sentiment was solid. I still need to re-ink my pad so it took me three stamps but as I had the Mini MISTI it was no problem at all.

As a final flourish, I added some…. ok, ok, quite a few… April Crystals from Studio Katia. These I adhered with the glue tube from Lawn Fawn and then it was time to step away before I got any other ideas.

I have used quite a few compensated affiliate links in this post, but don’t worry, these don’t cost you any extra. If you shop using these, you are helping me strengthen my collaboration with the companies they are associated with. I also get a small commission from the company directly, at no extra cost to you whatsoever. Thank you in advance if you use these, I really appreciate the support and encouragement!

Picket Fence Studios September Release | Christmas Poinsettia Star stamp | Arteza Sketch TwiMarkers + Video

Hi guys!

I hope you are all doing well and are excited to have a look at the latest release from Picket Fence Studios! This is my first time posting as part of their design team and I couldn’t be more excited. As soon as I saw the sneak peeks of the sets coming out I was inspired! There are so many fantastic Christmas sets in this release. Some of my favourites include the Winter Clothes Collage (See below), A Little Nuts and all the new foiling impress dies!

winterclothescollageC109

Anyone who knows me knows I’m a huge sucker for big blooms so when I spotted the Christmas Poinsettia Star stamp I knew I’d be using that one right away. It’s probably not a surprise that this blog post is dedicated to that stamp, lol.

I started out by heat embossing it in white, on water colour paper. Both the embossing ink and the Arctic White  Embossing powder are from Inkon3. To make sure I got a good imprint, I used my MISTI to stamp it.

After the heat embossing was done, I got my brand new Arteza TwiMarkerss out to colour the flower with. I have a YouTube video showing these off, I made yummy swatches as well as coloured the flower in. Hop on over to my channel if you want to check that out too and see the markers in action.

When the Poinsettia was coloured in, I cut out a mask to cover it and keep it pristine while I did some ink blending around the flower. I used two shades of grey Distress Oxide inks, Iced Spruce and Hickory Smoke to create a grey/silvery background. I find that adding colours to the background around big images helps them pop more!

Naturally I used my beloved Life Changing Blender Brushes, another Picket Fence Studios gem, to do the ink blending. These brushes have been such a game changer for me, I can not stress enough how fabulous they are and what a difference they made for me.

With the card background and flower done, it was time to add a sentiment and I decided to use the FaLaLaLaa foiling and diecut sentiment. I got a Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil machine earlier in the year but like an idiot, didn’t realise that I can’t use Minc foils with it so I thought it was rather rubbish. *True story*

Nope. The foiling machine is great. It’s indeed FAB and I was a bona fide idiot who didn’t read the instructions properly! Now I know to use the right kind of foil, I want to foil all the things!!

I used silver foil to keep with the colour scheme of the card (and also because the only other colour I have is rose gold and that didn’t fit) and then I used the diecut to cut out the sentiment. This I added to the card with a bit of liquid glue, I use Lawn Fawn’s glue tube, in the bottom right corner.

Once that whole shebang was added to a card base, the card was done!

I love how it turned out. A big gorgeous bloom and a blingy sentiment, what else do you need? Because this is a great way to make big impact Christmas cards, I’m going to include this post in my 12 Weekends Of Christmas series. This design could quite easily be mass produced and thanks to the water colouring aspect, each card will still be unique and special.

As always, this post is full of compensated affiliate links, mostly to Picket Fence Studios. At no extra cost to you, of course. I do however try and link everything I use, even if I’m not an affiliate, to make shopping easier for you.

Ellen Hutson September Release Blog Hop!

Hi, hey, HELLO!!

Today I am super excited to be taking part in a blog hop celebrating the newest release from the amazing Ellen Hutson! You should have come here from the incredible Kelly, and the next stop on the hop is Michele. The full list can also be found at the bottom of this post as well as on the Ellen Hutson blog.

essentials-by-ellen-september-2019-release-hop-ig

As soon as I saw the Space Out set I just knew I had to make an outer space card. I mean, how can you not?? It just so happens that I had a whole load of galaxy backgrounds already done so I picked my favourite out and set that aside for this project. It’s water coloured using the 36-pack Gansai Tambi water colours and had some shimmer added to it with White Gold from the Starry Color palette.

On Copic friendly card stock, I used Neenah Classic Crest #110 Solar White, I stamped up all of the Space Out images with Ink On 3 Blackout Detail ink. Then I started colouring. I have a video up on my YouTube channel featuring some of the colouring, but only in a time-lapse as I’m still limited to only 15 minute videos.

With all the images coloured in, I cut apart the coordinating dies and cut them all out. I only ended up using the space rocket and the flames for this card in the end but next time I need an outer-space-themed card, I have lots of fun images ready.

The card base is also Neenah card stock as I like having a sturdy one. Ain’t nobody got time for cards flip-flopping all over the place, right? I adhered the background to this with a TomBow Xtreme adhesive as it’s water colour paper. It’s been recommended to me and it’s pretty good. Not perfect, but pretty good.

To make the spaceship stand out a little bit, I cut out a piece of foam sheet using the diecut and layered the image up on this. I like having my popped up pieces on a solid foam tape base to avoid warping and bending. As the back is sticky, I adhered the flames to it and then added a little bit more adhesive on the back of the flames before adhering the whole thing to the card base.

To finish off the card I heatembossed one of the sentiment from the stamp set, ‘sorry I spaced’, in white on black card stock. A generous dusting with my anti-static bag before stamping the sentiment with VersaMark ink was done too, of course.

A few little final touches were added: Some Black glittery gel pen on some of the bolts and a good dollop of Glossy Accents on the spaceship window to make it look glassy. With that my first card was done but I had so many images left over I decided to make one more right away! (So much for keeping them, eh?)

On another pre-made galaxy background I used the Constellation Background to add fun texture, I arranged my little planets, aliens and other cosmos images.

It’s actually pretty enough as it is. A simple sentiment like ‘that was out of this world’ would be all it needed, really. But you know me.. I gotta go and add ALL the bits. Which lead to this:

This sentiment is so fun (Ellen is the queen of good puns!) and I popped it up with a little bit of foam tape.

The rest of the images are glued down flat with Lawn Fawn glue tube adhesive. This card was super fast to do, as I had all those images and background already done. Just because a card is quick, doesn’t mean it has to be boring, right?

PRIZES!! Because that’s the best bit, right?? And there are some amazing ones up for grabs. One random and lucky winner will $25 to the Ellen Hutson shop and one will will the whole September Essentials by Ellen release!!! To enter and be in with a chance to win, make sure to leave comments on each stop along the hop! Comment before Sunday, September 15th at 11:59PST. Winners will be notified by email.

Here is the full lineup of amazing crafters and you are bound to be totally knocked out by their creations so make sure you sit down as you hop along!
