Pretty pastels with WPlus9 for SSS Wednesday Challenge

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well and enjoying summer!

Today’s card is made for the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge where the theme is Anything goes and the collaboration company is WPlus9. I love the flower stamps from them and the sentiments dies from SSS so I got to work on a friendship card.

One of my absolute favourite stamps from WPlus9 is Kind Soul and I heatembossed this on some Canson XL water colour card stock, using Wow! Embossing powder Extra Fine. This embossing powder gets all the little details without clumping it up or loosing anything.

After I made myself a little sunworshipping nest outside on the lawn, I settled down with my clipboard for stability, Daniel Smith 240 dot chart and some H2O water colouring brushes. Colouring both myself i.e. tanning and the flowers, I laid there for hours in the late afternoon sunshine (with sunscreen on and drinking plenty of water) It was such a lovely way to spend the day.

Once I was done with the colouring I trimmed down the panel to 5.5”x4.5”, which is a bit bigger than the usual A2 card size but I just couldn’t bring myself to cut off the leaves… To make the card base, I used Lawn Fawn card stock in the colour Plum. I made it just .25” bigger than the flower panel, so that a slim strip of purple could frame the card on the left hand side.

Sentiment wise I chose the ‘Miss you’ from SSS, it’s such a lovely font and I think it says it all when it comes to long-distance friendships. It’s always nice to be reminded that someone’s missing us, isn’t it?

I usually use foam sheet to raise up sentiments but for this one I decided to use the left over Plum card stock, and cut out two more which would be layered up to provide a base for the top part.

To make it slightly more interesting, I stamped the Kind Soul in VersaMark ink on the card stock before cutting out the final layer. It doesnt’ show overly much, just enough to catch your eye and make you look a bit closer.

Finishing off the card was quick and easy at this point: The flower panel got added to the card base, the ‘miss you’ sentiment was glued down in the top left corner and I also added a smattering of Sparkling Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. And yes, this is perhaps a few more than you would call a ’smattering’ but I love sequins!

Pink Monochromatic card with lots of glimmer and shimmer for a glamorous birthday girl!

Hello, hello!

Today’s post is a quick one to show you a card I made for this week’s Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, where the cue is ‘Sparkle and Shine’.

I used an A2 panel cut out of Tonic Studios Black Velvet card stock which I stencilled with Peony Pink Nuvo Embellishment Mousse. The stencil is Tim Holtz Gothic Layering Stencil and I used it just along the side of the panel. The shimmer you get from the Nuvo Embellishment Mousses is amazing, if you like shimmer, you will love these! Tonic Studios also have a stunning collection of mirror, metallic and shimmer card stock. I’m a big fan!

The idea I had was to show a sentiment through a diecut so I cut out a stitched circle using a SSS diecut. I didn’t end up using that idea, instead I put a glimmery pink card stock behind it and adhered all this to a white card base.

I stamped up ‘Friend’ from the SSS Stained Glass Love Stamp set on Neenah Classic Crest #110 card stock and coloured then in with pink Copic markers. This I cut out using the coordinating diecut and set aside.

On a slim strip of white card stock I stamped up ‘It’s Your Birthday’ with VersaMark ink, after dusting this card stock with my anti-static tool. The embossing powder I used is Altenew’s Rose Gold embossing powder and I set this with my heat gun.

This card came together pretty easy after all these bits were done, it just took a quick minute to decide where they were going to go and then adhering them to the card base. I also added a few puffy heart stickers from Doodlebug Design Inc’s , the ones I used are called Tiny Hearts ,to the card and with that I was done.
